general submission tips

applications

Use our suggested applications. You may include ACORDs if desired, but they generally do not give use enough information. Another company's garage application may be sufficient to quote from if it contains most of the information contained in our application. However, if we get to the binding stage, our application(s) will always be required.

driver questionnaire and driver schedule

Please complete these forms. This is largely how we determin the rating for each risk. Include the MVR's, or at the very minimum comment on the MVR quality for each driver.

loss history and loss runs

Make sure to complete the loss history section. If there have been no losses, make sure to fill the blanks with zeros or write "none". If the account is not a new venture, it is best to go ahead and request hard copy loss runs from prior carrier(s). We in many cases want to see the company loss runs before permitting binding of an account.

account narratives

A short paragraph about the history of the account, and a description about the location and the experience of the owner is a very welcome addition to the submission. In most cases we are attempting to form an opinion about the account to make pricing decisions and determine the best markets to try. A brief description about the account will many times assist us in doing not only a better, but also a speedier quote for you.

specific autos, service vehicles / wreckers / rollbacks

For both dealers and non-dealers there may be specifically owned vehicles such as a wrecker that will need to be scheduled. Our garage carriers exclude wreckers, tow trucks, rollbacks and car carriers. It is important that these be identified and specifically scheduled on the policy with it's their own separate premium. Use stated (current values) for physical damage coverages. Do NOT use cost new. Also, keep in mind that if you want to provide coverage for customer or owned autos while being towed or transported, we must charge for on-hook. This limit should be the expected maximum per car value.

Use ACORD property, ACORD inland marine, and ACORD general liability sections if you have additional exposures for liability (e.g. there is also a store or an apartment on premises), or if you want to add property or tools and equipment coverages. Make sure to include and fill in the details regarding age and building updates as well as burglar or fire alarm details.
